The idea started back in 1996. Al-Hajjaj met Nasser who has the same musical interests Al-Hajjaj has. They decided to form grunge band and the main theme is about freaks and weird stuff. The band started to compose songs but without bass and that was a problem. First show ever of Sound of Ruby was in 1998 in a party of the foreign community center in Saudi Arabia and after that year the band started to play in special parties and gigs. As the band was progressing there was always the bass problem. Unfortunately, many bassists joined the band but they didn't last. The band showed up in a dead rock community. Rock music is not that popular in Saudi Arabia so we were kind of alone. According to these circumstances the band decided to go out of the country to be heard and to get some opinions about the songs. In 2002 after the rise of rock music in Saudi Arabia the band got to know another local band called Wry Wreathe and their drummer was the childhood friend of Hajjaj and was one of the many bassists who left the band. The 2 bands could make gigs and jams because the line ups of the 2 bands were complete. In march, 2003 Hajjaj and K. Khalil who was the rhythm guitarist with Wry Wreathe thought of making a big gig and they called it Dammam Fest. From that day Hajjaj and K. Khalil became close friends with Nasser. In the same year Wry Wreathe broke up so the band asked K. Khalil to be the bass player of the band. They understood each other well and started composing more stuff. With K. Khalil the band recorded a B-side album called (Stoned Super Acoustic) contained 6 songs recorded by K. Khalil and that was an experience before recording any official albums. The band in 2004 was recording the second album (BLUE LIPS) they played live again in the first public rock show in Saudi Arabia run by SaMetal.net crew and after that the band released the second album (BLUE LIPS). In (BLUE LIPS) the band experienced different styles from indie to blues. Unlike the first album (super acoustic) that was acoustic grunge stuff. In 2005 Thallathah album was released, which is more to punk and grunge. The band also played with 6 saudi local bands in Sa METAL II in Sep 2005. Nadir joined SOR with the same time of Metal Resurrecation I in Jan 19 as a guitarist. Recently, our new album Migraine has been released. S.O.R played in SA METAL GIG III in 18 May of 400 attendees.and in the clash of iron the first gig in riyadh.after releasing the 5th album shedding skin . facebook group
